We often hear people saying “help I’ve got a Google Penalty” or at least they think they might have. So can we help you?
Yes we can, but fixing a penalty is not a quick process, there are many different reasons why you may have a penalty, but it usually comes down to either trying to use sneaky old tactics that Google disprove of such as hidden text, keyword stuffing, cloaking, and such things on the website, or using poor quality links or automated programs to build lots of links automatically.
If you have a penalty due to unethical (in Google’s eyes) practices onsite, we can clean the site up and help you request that Google remove the penalty.
If you see a message that says:
“We’ve detected that some of the links pointing to your site are using techniques outside Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.
We don’t want to put any trust in links that are unnatural or artificial, and we recommend removing any unnatural links to your site. However, we do realize that some links may be outside of your control. As a result, for this specific incident we are taking very targeted action to reduce trust in the unnatural links. If you are able to remove any of the links, you can submit a reconsideration request, including the actions that you took.
If you have any questions, please visit our Webmaster Help Forum.”
Or a message that says:
Google Webmaster Tools notice of detected unnatural links on ……..
We’ve detected that some or all of your pages are using techniques that are outside our quality guidelines, which are available here:
Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links on your site pointing to other sites that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. For more information about our linking guidelines, visit http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66356&hl=en
We encourage you to make changes to your site so that it meets our quality guidelines. Once you’ve made these changes, please visit https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/reconsideration?hl=en to submit your site for reconsideration in Google’s search results.
Then you have been given a penalty due to poor quality or unnatural linking techniques.
First we will need to look at the ratio of links that you have, and see how many use keywords compare to natural types of links, and then we will need to see what sort of links have actually been built to your website, and determine the best way to remove them. Sometimes we can help you to acquire a new domain and move your website content there and remove the old site from Google’s index and add the new site without the penalty. But that is pretty drastic course of action and not suitable for everyone.
