The Web Design Industry's Dirty Secrets - Just looking for the juicy dirt...?
No problem, read on to learn some of the web design industry’s dirty secrets…
Secret 1: Many so called UK Web Design Agencies actually cant do website design at all.
They just outsource all their work abroad to cheap services in Asia or India or Russia. This is often why the websites that they build although often expensive, (The so called UK Web Agency often adds thousands to the price of the work, which they only pay peanuts for themselves!) are such rubbish quality. This is also often why these web companies take forever to actually get the website finished, and then the website is full of spelling errors and terrible English. –
P.s We dont outsource anything, we do all the Work ourselves in-house.
Secret 2: Poor Website Design Companies will often charge you for Free Themes.
That’s right, in order to maximise profits, these unscrupulous people would rather use poor quality themes which are free just to save a little bit of money. A good quality theme will often cost the designer between £75-£100 after they have paid VAT. This then gives then a well designed and well build system to use that is kept updated and will allow them to build a quality website. Because they value money over quality of service and good work, they will often either use a free theme, or an unlicensed one. So that Website they quoted thousands of pounds for is very likely using a poor quality theme that is actually free and may allow your website to easily get hacked!
P.s We always use top quality premium themes with the best reputation.
Secret 3: Dishonest Website Designers dont pay the legally required licences.
Another dirty secret among bad quality web designers, is that they will buy a theme and install the licence which allows them to build a website using that theme. However before they hand it over to the unsuspecting client they delete the licence from the website leaving you with an illegal unlicensed website. Before you shrug your shoulders and think oh well… That means that your website cant be updated. When the theme is updated (as all themes regularly are) you wont be able to install the update, leaving you with problems, often you will get errors on the website because your CMS will be updated, PHP will be updated and all your plugins will be updated, but your website wont be able to run them because it hasnt been updated. You are also left open to being prosecuted and legally required to take your website down because of not having the legally required licence for the code that was used to build your website.
P.s We always pay for and install the licences on our customers websites for any themes and plugins.
Secret 4: Some unscrupulous web designers just copy the text and images from other websites.
Rather than putting in the effort to do a good job, it is far easier just to find a website that someone else has done all the work on and steal it. So they will often copy the images or the text (or even both) from one of your competitors website and use it to build your website. However this creates real problems for you, because Google already knows where that text comes from, and that it was just copied, so your website will be given a penalty by Google and will never do well in the search engines and if the company who your website designer stole it from finds your website they can have your website taken down and sue you.
P.s We never copy other people’s work and refuse to do it if our customers ask.
Secret 5: Dishonest Website Designers will show you websites they didnt build as their own work.
We have even found websites that we built showcased on other dishonest web designers websites pretending that it was their work! Of course we had them removed, but we are well aware that this is something that goes on. Why dont they just show you websites that they have built themselves? Because they don’t look good, and if you knew what their actual work looked like you would never use them.
P.s We never try to pass off websites that others have built as our own.
Secret 6: Greedy Web Design Agencies often overcharge and add hidden fees.
A good reputable website design agency will be open and transparent about the costs of your project. You should know exactly what it is going to cost before you start. Simply being given an hourly or a daily rate with an estimate on how long roughly it might take is not good enough. If you are paying them more for each hour or each day that they take to finish, where is the incentive to get it done in a reasonable timeframe. Over the years we have heard of many people who were ripped off in this way. Some were still trying to get their website finished over a year later! Others were charged a set fee, but required to pay it all upfront and then surprise surprise, the web designer disappeared and they never got their website. You want to find out, exactly what the website will cost, if it includes any licences for plugins or themes that they are using, exactly how long the website will take from start to finish, and exactly what it will cost.
P.s We always give a set price for the project, give a clear timeframe to complete, and take a 50% deposit with the balance payable upon completion.
Transparent Website Design Prices
We know that you want to know exactly what your website or project is going to cost. That is why our web design agency has completely transparent prices, with no hidden costs.
Unlike many other Web Development Agencies, we do not charge by the hour or have any other hidden prices that could potentially land you with a horrible unexpected bill at the end. You will have no need for a website design cost calculator, or to ask questions like how much does a website cost per month?
Instead we work out exactly what your website is going to cost, and how long it is going to take to complete.
Then we charge a 50% deposit and get started, when the work is completed we get the balance, and then set the website or project live.
Every project is unique and will involve different amounts of time and expense to build, therefore each project is priced individually.
